Kathmandu: On Friday, President Ram Chandra Poudel called for the formation of a new government. Issuing a statement today, the President invoked Article 76(2) of the Constitution of Nepal to make this call.
Earlier, President Poudel had sought advice from constitutional experts on which article of the Constitution should be used to form a new government.
Today, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ presented a proposal in Parliament to seek a vote of confidence. However, he was unable to secure the vote. He received 63 votes in favor and 194 votes
against. The CPN-UML and Nepali Congress have already signed papers claiming the formation of the government.
